We’re Dewald and Sarah Scholtz, speakers, life coaches, and passionate advocates for strong, connected families. We founded Family Matters, a nonprofit organisation dedicated to strengthening homes across South Africa and beyond.
Our heart is simple: we want to see families thrive.
Where Our Story Began
Our story began in 2000 when we met while studying at Bible College in London. We quickly discovered a shared love for people and ministry, and that has guided our journey ever since. We married in 2003 and have spent more than two decades walking alongside individuals, couples, and families from many different backgrounds and seasons of life.
OUR FAMILY
Today, we are the grateful parents of two young adults, Mikayla and Daniel.
They have grown up immersed in the values we teach such as connection, honesty, grace, and intentional living.
Our own family life continues to shape the way we lead, coach, and teach with empathy and real-life perspective.

Anesca is our all-rounder, Creative Director, PA and so much more. She keeps us organised, brings everything to life, and makes everything run smoothly behind the scenes.
Tim, together with his wife Cindy, is helping us grow our programmes, bringing heart and experience to strengthen families across our greater community

Our Heart
We believe every family can experience what we call “heaven at home.” This doesn’t mean a perfect home. It means a healthy one where grace is present, communication is open, and relationships are strengthened instead of strained.
Our teaching blends practical tools, biblical wisdom, and real-world experience. We are not interested in quick fixes or distant theory. We focus on genuine transformation that grows over time and reaches every part of family life.
Our Hope
More than anything, we hope to inspire courage. Courage to grow, to forgive, to rebuild, and to believe that a thriving family is possible. If we can help even one home experience more peace, joy, and connection, then we count that as a win.

How We Work
